Riti BahlNat C. Robertson Fellow
Riti Bahl (they/she) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Mathematics at Emory University, focusing on tensor decompositions and their applications to atmospheric and climate science. They develop mathematical models and tools to better understand hurricanes and, more broadly, to analyze complex environmental datasets. Riti is also deeply interested in the socio-economic impacts of hurricanes, particularly in coastal communities.
Beyond their research, Riti is committed to expanding access to mathematics and reimagining what counts as “math.” They work on projects at the intersection of social justice and mathematics education, with a focus on creating space for non-traditional students. In and out of the classroom, they aim to be a living example of the many forms mathematics can take. Outside academia, Riti tends to their ever-growing collection of plants with as much care as their research.
