Innovative Teaching
The Interdisciplinary Studies and American Studies majors involve innovative approaches to teaching that bring out the strengths of multiple disciplines. Through unique pedagogy, students are able to connect with course content more effectively.
As part of the sidecar class "Reading for Pleasure," students made their own reading journals in a workshop led by Kirsten Wehner, conservationist at the Emory Libraries. Experiential learning engages students in different ways from a traditional classroom setting.
In AMST 190 "Science, Race, and the American Experience," students utilize the entire classroom (including the walls!) to understand the difference between beneficial and damaging approaches to scientific inquiry.
