IDS major Justin Li awarded a Halle Undergraduate Global Research Fellowship

Justin Li

IDS major Justin Li (23C) has been awarded a Halle Undergraduate Global Research Fellowship for the coming summer. Justin will use the grant to conduct research for his senior honors thesis on Taiwan's national school lunch program, private vendor providers, and how the culture surrounding food prestige and advertising influence Taiwanese children’s choices in school lunches. He will conduct interviews with schoolchildren and their parents and observe both private vendors near the school area and public school classrooms.

The Halle Institute for Global Research funds up to ten fellowships annually to support extensive research outside the United States for undergraduate students in any school (Arts & Sciences, Business, Nursing) doing honors theses or senior capstone projects.

Global Fellows receive up to $4,000 in research funds from the Halle Institute. The international research portion of the fellowship will be conducted in Summer 2022 and is followed by participation in ECS 480, Global Fellows Research Seminar (two credits) in the fall. Halle Institute Global Fellows will also participate in Emory’s vibrant research community of faculty, graduate students, and visiting scholars.
