Sama Elshamshery Human Health and Interdisciplinary Studies

Sama is a second year from New York majoring in Human Health with a concentration in health innovation and a double major in Interdisciplinary Studies on the Pre-Law track. Outside IDEAS, she is involved in The Women's Network, Emory Student Ambassadors, Muslim Students Association, and Emory’s pre-law fraternity, Kappa Alpha Pi. She also founded an Emory Chapter of Students Who Sit, an organization centered around helping both Emory students and families find sitters and jobs based on mutual community and trust. Her interests center around understanding how lived experiences shape the ways people think, make decisions, form memories, and navigate their lives. She’s especially interested in the intersection of human health, law, and advocacy, mainly the intentionality behind people’s choices and how systems, relationships, and communities can better support and protect individuals. In her free time, Sama enjoys reading anything from novels to poetry and visual art, especially painting.
