Julia Munslow is a senior from Rhode Island in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in creative writing and English. Passionate about storytelling, she believes in the power of media, art, and narrative to create change. She currently serves as the editor-in-chief of The Emory Wheel, Emory University’s independent, student-run newspaper. Her photos of student protests have been syndicated by media organizations such as The New York Times, Newsweek, and CNN, and won a 2016 SPJ Mark of Excellence for Breaking News Photography. This past summer, she covered news and politics for Yahoo News. In her spare time, she loves photography, poetry, and travel. For IDEAS, she taught and developed a sidecar class on the intersection of race and media, and worked most recently as a residential fellow in a freshmen hall. At Emory, she previously worked as an undergraduate research fellow and a peer mentor in the SIRE Program and as the web director for The Pulse.
